They say "when you love what you do, you never work a day in your life! "
When I'm behind the chair, I feel as though I've been given an opportunity to make a difference really and thankfully, I've found my calling. This feeling didn't just happen, and it took years for me to digest that I was an artist!
Why is it that we run from things that we are naturally good at?! Work doesn't have to be a grind! I guess in a way I didn't grasp my talent because I was underestimating myself and the power I have to change lives.
I am a beauty school drop out! My third time I finally graduated and it was like pulling teeth.
Cosmetology school was a total drag! I would get in trouble for skipping, but seriously I learned five basic hair cuts, basic color wheel knowledge and not one thing in regards to my passion...extensions! How is it that we can get licensed and yet have zero education or training in the third most technical service in our industry?
What you don't know about me is that I have a degree in Broadcasting and an obsession with flying planes! YUP, I completed ground school and have a log book with my flight hours and copious amounts of aviation books. I worked at ClearChannel TV, Sony Music, and even HKBC.
So why am I sharing this with you? Because I always went back to what felt right and what I was naturally good at. I believe that so many stylists underestimate how amazing we truly are and that we make an impact in the lives of those we touch. If you love hair extensions and the "make-over," then become a MASTER at it. It's a complete high to watch the transformations. It's also a magical moment between your guest and YOU!
Give women the volume they deserve or the length they've always wanted. Come from the heart FIRST, and the money will come later. I promise.
